We are proud to announce Dr. Maricela Valerio, infectious diseases specialist at the Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Madrid, as our keynote speaker and Dr. Juani Bermejo-Vega, quantum physicist at Universidad de Granada as invited speaker for our public lecture.
Public Lecture – Dra. Juani Bermejo-Vega
University of Granada – Athenea3i – Marie Curie researcher. Extremeñian scientist, trans queer activist, physicist, computer scientist and expert on quantum computation. She is currently a Marie Curie – Athenea3i researcher in the University of Granada, Spain. She has worked as a researcher in the Free University of Berlin (2016-2019) and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, Munich, Germany. She did her undergraduate studies in the University of Salamanca (2005-2010), Spain. She is cofounder of the Q-turn quantum information workshop and the Equal Opportunity Group of the Max-Planck PhDnet. Her activism promotes labor rights, responsible research, diversity, equity, inclusion and the creation of inclusive spaces in science.
Keynote Speaker – Dr. Maricela Valerio Minero
Maricela Valerio Minero is a medical doctor specialized in internal medicine and infectious diseases and has been working since 2007 in the Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Department at Gregorio Marañón University General Hospital. Her healthcare work in the field of infectious diseases focuses on the care of patients with HIV infection, transplant patients, those with nosocomial infections, with endocarditis and the consultation of post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV. Dr. Valerio is also a clinical researcher at the Gregorio Marañón Health Research Institute, and is primarily involved in the study of fungal infections, endocarditis and infections in transplant patients. She has co-authored over 100 publications in national and international journals and has been a collaborating researcher and principal investigator on several research projects and clinical trials. She is also a member of three national and international medical societies in the field of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (SEIMC, SEICAV, ESCMID). As for her teaching work, she collaborates as a tutor of residents in the specialty of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases for the training of new specialists in that field and she is in charge of the tutoring of international students and rotaries coming from Europe and Latin America. In the field of social action, she collaborates with the NGO Imagina Más, which serves the LGBT community, to train health personnel on the subject of Chemsex, sexually transmitted diseases, post-exposure prophylaxis and PrEP.
Workshop – Sexualidad ConSentimiento
Sexualidad ConSentimiento is a multidisciplinary sexology project with a feminist and lgbtqa+ diversity perspective. It was born from the hand of professionals (and friends) Marta Ábalos Calvo and Shaina Vara Corrales, as a result of the identification of the need to unite social, sexological, pedagogical, psychological, gender and diversity education in the approach to sexuality, from a global and scientific perspective that makes visible all identities, orientations, desires and erotics. Marta Ábalos is a health psychologist and sexologist, specialized in gender, sexual and couple therapy, and an expert in acceptance and accompaniment processes with LGBTQA+ people. She currently works in a psychological and sexological care center in Madrid. Shaina Vara Corrales is an educator and sexologist, specialized in gender studies, equality and social intervention, and an expert in LGBTQA+ diversity and sexual health. She currently works in the Prevention and Early Diagnosis of HIV and Syphilis Service in CM health centers. With experience in social and health fields, they offer training and teaching services, sexological advice and sexological dissemination.
